ALACHUA COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
The Alachua County Office of Emergency Management serves as the coordinating agency for development and implementation of a countywide emergency management program designed to protect life and property. The office maintains a comprehensive view of emergencies that is risk based and all hazards in its approach, and covers all four phases of emergency management: preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.
The office is charged with overseeing the Alachua County Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). The EOP establishes the framework for the community’s response to disasters, and is written in accordance with the State of Florida Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and the Federal Response Plan. The plan describes how county resources, mutual aid, state, and federal agencies will be coordinated in response to an emergency.
