News Release-August 20, 2004:
The Manatee County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains at a Level 2 status and continues to coordinate recovery and relief efforts in Manatee County. The precautionary boil water advisory has been completely lifted in Manatee County.

Resources from Manatee County have been deployed to several impacted counties. One engine and one ALS unit are deployed in Charlotte today. Fire-rescue supervisory personnel from various districts are also deployed to other affected areas. The County has assisted in the staffing of the Charlotte County EOC since recovery efforts began and they will be replaced Saturday by a team from North Carolina.

Ferrell Gas, a local company, provided free barbeque grill size propane tank refills for affected residents at Groover's Market and at Myakka Elementary School today. The County is establishing additional waste bins and waste pick-ups for Groover's Meats, the Myakka Methodist Church and at the Myakka Elementary School. The County has provided replacement generators for the Myakka City Fire District Station and Myakka Methodist Church.

The Manatee County Emergency Operations Center continues to communicate with affected residents through the local fire chiefs and reverse 911 messaging. Other key communications occur through the Myakka Elementary School, Myakka Methodist Church and Groover's Meats which have opened their doors and resources to their respective communities.

The Manatee County Mosquito Control District continues to provide additional mosquito control measures to impacted areas. Inspectors are in the Myakka River basin area today.

Several churches are graciously opening their doors to residents without power. These facilities will have showers and restroom facilities available as follows:

Woodland Baptist Church 9607 State Road 70, Bradenton
Open 6:30 am - 9:00 pm

Parrish United Methodist Church
12180 US 301 North Parrish
Open 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Faith Christian Church 5215 Lorraine Road Bradenton
Open 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

The YMCA at Lakewood Ranch and at South County (37th St. East and SR 70) have also made their showers and restrooms available to residents without power. Hours are listed below.

Lakewood Ranch YMCA:
Monday thru Friday: 5:30am to 9pm
Saturday: 8am - 4pm
Sunday: 1pm - 4pm

South County YMCA:
Monday thru Thursday: 9am to 8pm
Friday: 9am to 6pm
Saturday: 9am to 12 noon

The following Country Clubs have also made restroom and shower facilities available for residents without power:

Waterlefe Country Club (Upper Manatee River Rd.) from 7am to 6pm

River Club from 6am to 8pm

Tara Golf and Country Club - Please call Tony at 730-8289 to coordinate.

Please be aware that these facilities are opening their doors to residents WITHOUT power only.
