Citizen Information Line :
Our Citizen Information line has now been activated and is operational for 24 hours a day. Residents who might have Questions are invited to call 407-665-2650.
Closings:
The Seminole County Parks and Libraries are closed until further notice. Residents are asked to please not use the book drops. Fines will be waived until further notice.
911 Communications:
Seminole County thanks citizens for utilizing 911 in emergencies only. Emergency personnel have been able to respond quickly to those needing emergency assistance, weather permitting.
Curfew:
A curfew will be in effect for evacuated areas starting at dusk on Friday until dawn on Saturday. A countywide curfew will be in effect starting at 9pm on Saturday until dawn. This will remain in effect until repealed or adjusted. An executive order was also issued invoking an order against the sale, purchase or receiving of alcoholic beverages during curfew hours. This order also includes the seven municipalities in Seminole County. This ban does not include alcoholic sales to registered guests of hotels and motels.
We are asking residents to stay off of the roads by 2pm on Saturday.
Debris / Garbage Collections:
In order to prepare for Hurricane Frances, the garbage, recycling and yard waste collection schedule for unincorporated Seminole County residents is as follows:
There will be no garbage collection Monday in unincorporated Seminole County due to the Labor Day holiday. Normal garbage collection is expected to resume Tuesday, September 7th.
We are asking all residents to please refrain from putting items at the curb. Debris Collection will resume as quickly as possible after the storm passes.
The Landfill and the Transfer Station are closed Saturday and Sunday. Weather permitting, those locations will re-open at 7:30 am on Monday with normal fees in place. The Jetta Point site will be closed to the public permanently.

FEMA Update
Pending Hurricane Frances, the local FEMA Office has closed
Flooding:
Citizens living in low-lying areas are being advised to monitor water levels. If waters rise and begin to flood homes, citizens should turn off their electricity at the breaker box to ensure their safety. In addition, before power is restored, breaker boxes should be inspected by an electrician.
HAMM:
The County does have a need for HAM radio operators. Any Hamm operator interested in assisting the County may call 407-665-2650. We are happy to have you onboard before, during and after the storm. Or call 147.285 repeater.
Hotel Information:
VISIT FLORIDA has set up a special toll-free number so visitors and residents can find hotel accommodations out of the path of the storm: 1-800-287-8598. Callers to that number will now reach a live operator who will ask where the caller wants to go and then provide them with contact numbers for local lodging alternatives and local visitor’s bureau. Callers will be cautioned of the hurricane’s unpredictability and no guarantees of safety or room availability will be made. Every effort will be made to provide callers with the best possible information so they can make their own decisions.
The hotel contact information provided by the VISIT FLORIDA operators comes directly from the Florida Hotel & Motel Association and the state’s various convention and visitors bureaus and tourist development councils.
POWER:
Citizens without power may go to their local fire station for assistance in an emergency. We remind citizens to contact their power companies to report outages and only use 911 if the outage is life threatening.
Progress Energy has 9,300 customers without power.
Florida Power and Light has 9,000 customers without power.
RADIO UPDATES: AM 540 WFLA will be doing updates at 20 minutes after EVERY HOUR Spanish information will be made available on AM 1400 WSDO.
In addition, we encourage residents to listen to area media and watch SGTV for the latest information.
Shelters:
Seminole County has announced MANDATORY evacuations for residents in mobile homes, manufactured homes, and homes in low lying areas.

Lyman High School in Longwood (Pet Friendly Shelter) - Please note that pet owners will need to house their pet in a kennel or crate, have copies of their pet’s vaccinations and bring food. In addition, Seminole County Animal Services has a need for portable pet crates (kennels). All sizes are needed for cats and dogs. Residents interested in donating a crate may call 407-665-5110.
